Rocks & Forts in the Stinchar Valley

This short film explores the hills, ancient forts and remarkable geology of the Stinchar Valley, revealing how the landscape has been shaped over millions of years and how its natural history connects with the area’s cultural heritage. Filmed and edited by Fearann Alba as part of a series of videos for Galloway & Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere, the video helps bring local stories, science and landscape history together in an engaging and accessible format.

By presenting complex information such as geology, archaeology and place-based heritage in an easy to digest way, the film plays an important role in helping the public better understand and appreciate the significance of the Biosphere. It encourages people to look more closely at the places around them, deepening awareness of the connections between landscape, history and community.

From Source To The Sea

This short film follows the River Stinchar from its source in the moorland of Carrick Forest in the Galloway Hills to its journey westward towards the Ayrshire coast. Along the way, it highlights the river’s importance as part of the landscape, its role in shaping local places and habitats, and the connections between water, wildlife, people and the wider Biosphere.

Filmed and edited by Fearann Alba as part of a series of videos for Galloway & Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere, the film presents information about the natural environment in a clear, accessible and engaging way.
